Get Ready for the Fall Running and Walking Season
Guest Author @ 2021-09-20 16:24:04 -0400We’re partnering with fitness experts from across the country this fall for a series of Q&As showcasing the benefits the AeroTrainer® exercise platform can provide to your seasonal workout plans.
Check out this Q&A with personal fitness coach Linzi Martinez about preparing for the fall running and walking season and how the AeroTrainer can help.
Linzi, you’re a professional fitness coach and a big believer in incorporating running and walking into your fitness plans. Now that summer has come to an end, what advice do you have for your fellow runners, joggers, and walkers?
With crisp autumn weather on the way, now is the perfect time to embrace the idea of switching up your fitness routines to take advantage of cooler, more comfortable temperatures.
In your opinion, what is the biggest mistake runners/walkers/joggers make when transitioning from warm-weather to cool weather?
That's an easy one. People don't always understand the need to maintain a strong core all year long, no matter the season. For some reason, when the weather gets cooler, people tend to forget the importance of using core strength training to target the muscles we use for walking, jogging, and running activities.
How can core strength training help people as they look to increase their running and walking activities this fall?
Your core consists of many muscles working together to create stability and support while also coordinating movement between arms, legs, and spine. That’s why your core can play a key role in improving the productivity of your walking, running, and jogging activities. Whether you are training to run a 5K or incorporating power walks or jogging into your fall fitness routine, maintaining a focus on core strength training is as essential now as it is during the spring and summer months.
What do you see as the key benefits of core strength training for runners, joggers, and walkers?
Core strength training can help improve your power, speed, endurance, balance, and stability while helping you get the most out of your favorite outdoor fall activities.
How did the AeroTrainer help improve your fall training regimen?
For me, the AeroTrainer has become an instrumental part of my running prep and maintenance plan. Its unique design allows me to exercise several muscles simultaneously. Best of all, the Aerotrainer helps me take the guesswork out of positioning and maintaining my form. In my world, every rep counts, and the AeroTrainer allows me to target better the exact muscles I need to work for a particular exercise. The stability and support it provides are critical for me, making transitioning from one exercise to another easier, faster, and more precise. This has been a real bonus for me as I am not a fan of doing all my exercises on a hard floor.
